    Howto: softmod a GeForce 9600 GSO into a 8800 GTS 512MB

Posted on Saturday, May 31 2008 @ 22:25:18 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

A blog called www.LLY.get.to has published a guide on how you can softmod the Galaxy 9600 GSO OverClocked Edition into a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB. The softmod gives you access to a 256-bit memory bus and 512MB memory but it only works on the Galaxy card as that unit features eight instead of the usual six memory chips.

The softmod gives the card 8 percent more performance in 3DMark06 and 28 percent more in 3DMark Vantage. You can check out the guide over here.
