Apple to launch fourth-generation iPod today

Posted on Monday, July 19 2004 @ 14:20:58 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Apple will today launch a renewed version of its iPod digital music player. The fourth-generation iPod will cost $399. This 40GB model is able to hold roughly 10,000 songs, while the lower-capacity model with 20GB is priced at $299.

One of the new features of these new iPods is their longer battery life. The new ones are rated for 12h of use between charges, a 50% increase over the previous versions. The longer batterly life is because of better conservation of power, not because of a heavier battery.
