VIA to launch Nano-ITX motherboards in 2H 2004

Posted on Wednesday, July 21 2004 @ 14:14:51 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

VIA is planning to launch its Nano-ITX motherboard form factor in the second half of this year. Their Nano-ITX motherboard form factor is 50% smaller than its current Mini-ITX models. These new embedded motherboards will target digital home entertainment solutions that features system-on-chip (SoC) architecture.

    A Nano-ITX motherboard will be 12x12cm.
Chen did note, however, that revenues at VIA Embedded Platform Division (VEPD) in the first half doubled year-on-year, following growth in shipments to cable TV operators in the US.

Revenues generated by VEPD will account for 30% of VIA’s total revenues in the second half of this year, up from about 20% in the first half, Chen added.
