Dell S2409W 24-inch LCD has 16:9 aspect ratio

Posted on Tuesday, July 29 2008 @ 23:31:27 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Dell rolled out a new 24" LCD display with a 16:9 widescreen and a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display can be ordered for $379 and features a 5ms grey-to-grey response time, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 300 nits brightness, 85% color gamut and VGA/DVI/HDMI.

LCD panels with a 16:9 aspect ratio are cheaper to manufacture and within the next couple of months many more computer displays will be released with this widescreen aspect ratio. To be honest I'm not really satisfied with this evolution, I prefer the extra vertical screen estate that 16:10 offers.
