Dell working on new MP3 player?

Posted on Thursday, July 31 2008 @ 00:07:16 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Word is going around that Dell may launch a new MP3 player as early as September and that this player will come with its own online music download service.
This would be consistent with the apparent strategy, since Michael Dell took back the helm of his company, of challenging Apple in the ‘cool’ technology space, where the latter has more or less reigned supreme for years.

We’ve already seen the introduction of PCs like the XPS One, with its Apple-like price point and, yesterday, the funky Studio Hybrid. There is clearly a shift in design philosophy going on at Dell and a recent conversation with a senior EMEA Dell exec revealed that there’s plenty more to come.
