Intel delays launch of High Definition TV chips

Posted on Monday, August 16 2004 @ 13:49:34 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

It is said that Intel will delay the introduction of its LCOS chips. The company had hoped that the LCOS chips would be ready for launch during 2004.
The wires report that rather than introduce a one megapixel LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon) chip, Intel will now introduce a two megapixel chip instead, probably early next year.

The firm faces competion from firms such as Texas Instruments, already selling one megapixel units.
