New Blaupunkt GPS unit uses real-time video navigation

Posted on Monday, September 01 2008 @ 22:19:19 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

German car-audio specialist Blaupunkt has released two GPS navigation systems that stand out from the pack. The new Blaupunkt TravelPilot 500 and TravelPilot 700 are the first GPS devices that feature real-time video navigation. The GPS unit features an integrated video camera and superimposes the driving directions onto the live images. Furthermore, the camera also automatically detects traffic lights and road signs.

The following video illustrates how it works:

The Blaupunkt TravelPilot 500 and TravelPilot 700 will be available later this month for 400EUR and 500EUR, respectively.
