DigiTimes heard ASUS has 80 percent of the Intel P45-based motherboard market in its hands:
The company's motherboard shipments in the third quarter are estimated at 6.12 million units, a growth of 20% and higher than original expectations of 15%. In the fourth quarter, hopes are high that next generation X58-based motherboards will continue to drive company sales.

However, sources at channel vendors pointed out that since Asustek only shipped 17.22 million units in the first three quarters of this year, the company would need to ship 6.78 million units in the fourth quarter in order to reach its target of 24 million for 2008, a difficult task.
