ASUS working on thin 12-inch ZX notebooks

Posted on Wednesday, November 05 2008 @ 03:14:49 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Notebook component makers claim ASUS is working on an ultra-thin 12" ZX series notebook that will have a industrial design similar to the recently launched Eee PC S101 model. DigiTimes reports this notebook is expected before the end of the year in Taiwan, with a price below NT$30,000, which is around $910 at the current currency exchange rate.
The sources noted that Asustek had originally designed the S101 netbook for its ZX series, but at the last moment decided to release the product as part of its netbook line, as the company wanted to deliver a high-end an Eee PC product to the market. The sources added the company will now launch a notebook that features similar functionality but with a slightly larger display.

The 12-inch model will have a 16:10 aspect ratio and will be called the ZX series, with the sources predicting that it will be launched by the end of the year at a price of less than NT$30,000.
