ATI not planning a RV770 refresh?

Posted on Tuesday, November 18 2008 @ 20:27:58 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

There were some rumours last week that AMD was working on a RV790, a refresh of the current Radeon HD 4800 series with faster clockspeeds, but according to German hardware site ATI Forum this is just a load of hot air.

The site claims sources close to AMD/ATI told them that a RV770 refresh isn't in the works. We're not sure what to believe but as the RV770 is doing pretty fine it's possible that AMD will skip a refresh and focus on the RV870 and R800 parts instead.
