AMD claims Phenom II outperforms Core 2 Quad in multimedia

Posted on Wednesday, December 03 2008 @ 19:34:29 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Expreview got their hands on a leaked marketing slide from AMD that tries to show the multimedia superiority of the upcoming Phenom II 940 3GHz processor over the Intel Core 2 Q9400 2.66GHz and Intel Core 2 Q9300 2.5GHz processors.

The slide suggests the 3GHz Deneb chip is a lot faster than Intel's quad-core Core 2 processors but it's best to take these marketing slides with a grain of salt. The slide shows the relative performance which makes them very misleading, and we have no idea about the hardware or settings they used to get these results.
