Rockstar responds to GTA4 PC problems

Posted on Thursday, December 04 2008 @ 19:44:23 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Shacknews reports game maker Rockstar has issued a statement regarding the issues some people are having with the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV. Rockstar says they're working to help solve the problems as quickly as possible. Rockstar recommends to call their local technical support helpline for advice and recommendations and suggests to check out the regularly updated Rockstar Games Support page on their website.

Here's some more advice for GTA4 players who are experiencing problems:
Included on the website is this suggested fix for the missing textures issue, which Rockstar says "may be associated with third party graphical performance tuners," along with a list of some error codes and fixes, reproduced below.

It seems the company has yet to directly address complaints that some, but not all, users cannot adjust certain graphical settings, nor has it directly responded to complaints that some players on high-end PCs are experiencing low performance.

However, this document stresses that users of "current PC hardware are advised to use medium graphics settings," as "the higher settings are provided for future generations of PCs with higher specifications than are currently widely available."

As Shacknews previously noted, those experiencing the supposedly XP-only RMN40 error in Vista may be able to circumvent the error by installing Microsoft .NET 3.5 Framework (download here) and rebooting. The MMA10 error, not listed below, requires users to log out of the Rockstar Social Club multiplayer utility in order to play.

Here's a list of all the error codes:
