NVIDIA claimed highest 3DMark05 score, but already beaten by ATI cards

Posted on Wednesday, September 29 2004 @ 22:33:54 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

NVIDIA released a press release today stating that its NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra SLI currently performs the best in 3DMark05 with 7229marks.

This was achieved by two GeForce 6800 Ultra PCI Express graphics cards running in SLI-mode on an Intel Tumwater system with a Pentium4 3.4GHz EE using the ForceWare 66.51 driver.

But the funny thing is that a bit later higher scoring projects started to appear on Futuremark's Online Resultbrowser. At the moment of writing three projects already have a higher score than the score NVIDIA claimed to be the highest.

Currently the highest score is 7726, this was achieved by a single overclocked ATI RADEON X800 XT PE (726 MHz / 641 MHz) on an AMD Athlon 64 @ 2651 MHz

The highest scoring projects can be found here (leave everything blank and hit the Show Me The Projects! button)
