VIA has 10-15 percent of netbook market

Posted on Tuesday, December 30 2008 @ 00:14:47 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Intel and AMD have pushed VIA almost completely out of the processor market long ago but these days the firm is gaining ground in niche markets that require low-power processors.

DigiTimes wrote today VIA has managed to capture 10-15 percent of the total netbook shipments this year:
Power saving is VIA's major direction for CPU development continuing into next year; the company's CPU size and power consumption were reduced by 30% and 33%, respectively in 2008, and the company expects the values to see further drops of 25% and 41% in 2009, added the paper.
