Intel Larrabee to push its own API?

Posted on Tuesday, January 13 2009 @ 04:20:19 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

FUD Zilla heard a rumor that Intel will try to push its own API with Larrabee, to offer competition to DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.0.
Naturally Larrabee graphics will have to run both DirectX and Open GL, but Intel might have its own stuff and luckily, with a lot of money behind it, they might even have a winner.

We doubt that Microsoft will let them get away with it, as currently in computer games DirectX controls more than 90 percent, and probably even 95 percent of the PC gaming market, but hey, they can always try.
