Intel Core i7 975 EE clocked at 3.33GHz, overclocked to 5.26GHz

Posted on Tuesday, February 03 2009 @ 19:53:39 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Looks like the Intel Core i7 965 Extreme Edition 3.2GHz processor will get a faster brother within a couple of months; the Core i7 975 Extreme Edition which will have a frequency of 3.33GHz.

The new Core i7 chip seems to use the new D-0 stepping and overclocks pretty well, FUGGER from Xtreme Systems published a screenshot of a Core i7 975 EE engineering sample overclocked to 5259.6MHz while running at a chilly temperature of -50°C.

Together with a pair of Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics cards and Corsair's new 1866C8 peltier cooled DDR3 memory the overclockers managed to set a new 3DMark05 world record of 47026 3DMarks.
