Intel to launch 3.46 Extreme Edition with 2MB L3 cache tomorrow

Posted on Sunday, October 31 2004 @ 14:10:40 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Intel is expected to release its Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.46GHz with 2MB of L3 cache tomorrow. And another thing that should be released tomorrow is the 925XE chipset supporting a 1066MHz FSB.
See Intel to introduce 3.46GHz 2MB EE chip on 1st November. There's also still a 3.73GHz EE chip with 2MB cache slated for later on in the quarter.

Meanwhile, according to Akiba PC Hotline, the 925XE chipset supporting the 1066MHz front side bus looks like it will be for sale from tomorrow too, in the shape of an Asus board. We expect ECS and several other big mobo firms to support the 1066MHz bus.

Meanwhile, Intel is preparing its plans for 2MB of L2 caches - the 6XX series - which will launch in January 2005.
