ATI Radeon HD 4850 gets price cut

Posted on Thursday, May 28 2009 @ 20:17:11 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

TC Mag reports the price of the ATI Radeon HD 4850 is starting to come down to $99.99 (90EUR), because the yields of the Radeon HD 4770 are reportedly not that good to due issues with TSMC's 40nm process.
The Radeon HD 4850 with its 800 Stream Processors and 512MB of GDDR3 memory has now started to go down to around $99.99 (the recommended retail price of the HD 4770) in the US, while in Europe it was slipped to around 90 Euro. With the cut AMD is certainly providing a nice choice for the sub-$100 segment and putting more pressure on Nvidia. We just want more 40nm-powered cards...
