Scythe Setsugen VGA cooler prototype unveiled

Posted on Thursday, June 25 2009 @ 04:20:50 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

FUD Zilla received some photos of the upcoming Scythe Setsugen VGA cooler, this model is designed for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 and will be released within a couple of months.
Setsugen weighs 390g without a fan and will be bundled with the Slip Stream 120mm Slim fan that should provide decent airflow without making the entire cooler thick. The fan itself will have VR, so you will be able to adjust the speed. The new VGA cooler took a lot from its CPU cousin, the Mugen 2 as it features the same fin structure which splits air resistance into four segments thus giving higher cooling performance, at least in theory.

It also features four 6mm heatpipes, and will be bundled with NVIO chip and voltage regulator heatsink if you decide to slap it on Nvidia's GTX 260 card. The best part of the entire concept is that it pushes the air away from the VGA card, which is rather interesting, as most VGA coolers either push it across the card and out of the case or directly on the card.
