Samsung launches wide TVs and MP3 players with long battery life

Posted on Wednesday, January 05 2005 @ 19:28:38 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Samsung is going to release quite a few new products. This includes a 80" plasma TV, a portable music player with a battery life of 42 hours on one battery and a DVD recorder that can copy one disc directly from another.

Other new products that the company will release include a camcorder with 5MP camera lens, wide-screen LCD TVs up to 57 inches and a number of home theatre systems.

The 80-inch plasma TV will be launched in May. Currently it is world's largest plasma screen, but Samsung has already demonstrated a prototype 102-inch plasma screen. The price of these screens is unknown.

The MP3 player with a battery life of 42 hours will cost somewhere between $120 to $200 for a 1GB model. It will be available this month and will have add-ons like FM radio and voice recording. It will also support copy-protected music.

The dual-tay DVD recorder is planned for Q3 2005 and will have a $500 price tag. The company said that it will be able to copy two hours of video in 30 minutes.
