Intel CEO promoting Larrabee in China

Posted on Tuesday, November 03 2009 @ 17:18:57 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

DigiTimes reports Intel CEO Paul Otellini is in China to talk to several graphics card makers to promote the upcoming Larrabee GPU. Sources at graphics card makers told the site that Intel plans to offer preferential pricing for the GPU purchased by itself, ad bundled with other Intel products to attract partners. Perhaps this means that in the future we may see bundles for gamers that include a Intel CPU, a Larrabee graphics card and perhaps also a solid state disk.
The sources revealed that Intel plans to offer preferential pricing for the GPU purchased by itself, and bundled with other Intel products to attract partners.

Although several first-tier graphics card makers remain conservative about adopting the GPU initially due to fears the chip may still have bugs; however, they expect Larrabee to have a chance of competing against AMD and Nvidia after two years.
