Mio expects shipments of smart handheld devices to jump in 2005

Posted on Thursday, January 13 2005 @ 18:16:54 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Mio Technology, a Mitac International owned company that specializes in smart-handheld devices, is forecasting that its Mio-brand business will account for more than 50% of its full-year shipments in 2005, rising from about 35% last year.

Mio shipped about one million smart-handheld devices in 2004, of which 350,000 units came from its own-brand segment, the company said. The handheld-device maker anticipates the Mio-brand shipments will approach 600,000-700,000 units this year.
