Apple to launch next-gen iPod mini within 2 months - and a 5th gen iPod later

Posted on Saturday, January 22 2005 @ 21:38:50 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

ThinkSecret dares to unveil a few more secrets from Apple once more. They published an article stating that Apple is developing a fifth-generation iPod, and a new revision of the iPod mini.

The next-gen iPod mini is currently codenamed Q22B, and referred to as Osiris inside Apple. Sources say that it will have a bigger HDD, possibly a 5GB drive from Seagate. The new iPod mini might also have some new functionality, but what remains unclear.

This next-generation iPod mini will probably be ready by early February, but it will take more than a month before Apple will announce and ship the new minis.

Info about the fifth-generation iPod is rare. This device will probably be launched in the second half of this year.

It is expected that it will move away from the white form factor towards a more silver enclosure to match the Mac mini, PowerBook and Power Mac products.
