HDD maker Western Digital said it shipped more than 16 million hard drives in its second financial quarter of this year.
Western Digital said it turned in revenues of $955 million, and made a net profit of $56 million in its second financial quarter.
The revenues represented shipments of 16.2 million units, with demand being particularly strong in both the desktop PC and personal/digital video recorder sectors.
The company shipped 1.6 million drives into the consumer electronics market, and sold four million Serial ATA drives.
