NVIDIA claims over 50 Optimus-enabled notebooks will be available in mid-2010.
Nvidia's Optimus technology enables notebooks equipped with an Nvidia discrete GPU alongside an IGP to seamlessly and automatically switch between the two for a given application, helping to ensure the the system is making the best use of available hardware resources to provide optimum performance and battery life. Optimus is an improvement over previous dual-GPU setups which need the user to manually select which GPU is active before starting a particular task, and in some cases require the system to be rebooted too. Nvidia claimed that notebooks with Optimus could see battery-life extended by up to 2-hours.

THIS is the kind of thing that wins Nvidia points, with consumers and with the industry. They are ready to work together with Intel, yet still offer products that enhance the user experience.

Now if only they had DX11 mobile discrete GPU's for the industry to use.
