HP CEO Fiorina dismissed - Was Hewlett right about Compaq?

Three years ago Walter Hewlett, son of the company's co-founder, was removed from the board of Hewlett-Packard for fighting against the acquirement of Compaq - but now it seems he was right.

In 2002 Carly Fiorina was very fond of the $18.9 billion Compaq deal but last week she got fired because she failed to deliver the promised profit improvement and because HP's stock price dropped more than 50 percent.
"I'm optimistic about HP," Hewlett said after Fiorina's ouster last week.

"The hand that HP has now is a strong hand and something can be made of it."
