IBM biggest server vendor in 2004

Posted on Thursday, February 24 2005 @ 18:29:10 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Last year IBM was the top firm in the server market with $16.1 billion sales. Second biggest vendor was HP and third was Sun.
Fuelled by strong sales of systems based on IBM's Power 5 processor, the company saw its Unix sales grow by 7 percent year-over-year to $4.3 billion, Gartner found. Sales of IBM servers based on Intel's (Profile, Products, Articles) x86 instruction set totalled $4.2 billion, up 22.4 percent from 2003.
