HDD-based MP3 players will become much more popular

Posted on Thursday, March 17 2005 @ 22:32:51 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Everybody knows that MP3 players are a big hit right now and market research firm expects that this trend will continue. They published a report stating that MP3 player sales will hit 132 million by 2009, compared to 36.8 million units in 2004.

Currently the top three manufacturers are said to be Apple, Creative Labs and Rio respectively. But many other companies such as Sony are aiming to take a considerable market share.

Sales of HDD-based digital audio players were at 27 percent last year but by 2009 they should account for 43 percent of the market.
