Posted on Tuesday, March 22 2005 @ 00:41:09 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Samsung announced the development of a new high definition LCD that provides clearer image resolution over the current LCD screens. The new display technology uses a patterned vertical alignment to offer clarity under sunlight conditions, besides this it allows improves the viewing angle.

The company stated that within 160 degrees from all directions one should be able to clearly see the screen. This is a great improvement over the current LCD displays. The resolution under sunny outdoor conditions of this new screen should also be greatly improved.

Mass production of this new LCD screen will start in 2006 and the first ones will be used in high-end mobile phones. Later they will be used in portable media players, car navigation systems and other mobile devices.
