    Symbian takes ActiveSync license

Posted on Tuesday, March 22 2005 @ 20:52:38 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Symbian announced a deal with Microsoft to license its ActiveSync synchronization software. As a result smartphones with the Symbian OS will be able to use Microsoft's Exchange software to transfer e-mails.

The deal might sound a little strange since Symbian was created by world's biggest cell phone manufacturers to prevent Microsoft from becoming the big leader in cell phones. And it worked as Microsoft doesn't even have 1% market share in the mobile phone market.
