Toshiba speeds up production of 0.85-inch 4GB hard drives

Posted on Thursday, March 24 2005 @ 16:23:43 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Toshiba will speed up the introduction of 0.85" 4GB hard drives by putting them in production next month. Earlier the company stated it would start producing them this summer.

    The HDDs measure only 32mm x 24mm x 5mm and weight approx. 10 grams.

They will be used in mobile devices such as MP3 players, PDAs and mobile phones.

Market research firm Gartner expects that at least 8% of mobile phones could contain a hard drive by 2008.
