Intel SSD refresh detailed - 600GB X25-M on the way

German tech site ComputerBase received details of Intel's upcoming solid state disk products. The leaked roadmap reveals Intel's first 25nm solid state disks will arrive in Q4 2010, the 25nm X25-M "Postville Refresh" units will have higher capacity, encryption, S.M.A.R.T. support, and better performance. The 80GB model will be discontinued, the lineup now starts at 160GB and climbs to 300GB and 600GB.

In the first quarter of 2011 the X25-E will receive a 25nm "enterprise grade" MLC refresh, these new "Lyndonville" units will receive much more capacity, S.M.A.R.T. support, encryption, and enhanced write performance. While the current lineup only offers 32GB and 64GB models, the new product lineup will feature 100GB, 200GB and 400GB models.

The X25-V value lineup will receive a 25nm-based 80GB disk in Q4 2010, with a new 40GB model to follow in Q1 2011. The X18-M line will be upgraded to 25nm in early 2011, with new drives in capacities of 160GB and 300GB.

The roadmap also reveals Intel has plans to release "Soda Creek", a small form factor PCIe Full SATA SSD. These models will still use 34nm MLC, they will only be available in 40GB and 80GB sizes.
