HP today launched two new own-brand iPod photo digital audio players. One has 30GB and the other has 60GB of storage capacity. They are priced at respectively $349 and $449 - the same price as Apple's iPod.

The iPods from HP are identical to Apple's iPods, the only real difference is that HP gives a 12-month warranty while Apple only gives 90 days. The HP iPods are also set up for Windows out of the box, while Apple of course supports both Mac and Windows.

According to data from Apple the HP branded iPods accounted for 7 percent of the iPod sales in the fiscal quarter ending 31 December, 2004.
