Sources at laptop and motherboard makers told DigiTimes that AMD's marketshare may see a significant boost next year thanks to the introduction of the company's first Fusion chips:
Mainly because AMD's Fusion series APUs to be launched in early 2011 have strong graphics capabilities and high performance/cost ratios, AMD is expected to see its global market share for notebook platforms alone rise from 11% in 2010 to 15% in 2011 and that for notebook, desktop and server platforms together from 20% to 25% and may advance further to 30% in 2012, according to Taiwan-based notebook and motherboard makers.

The sources believe that strong performance/cost ratio as well as low power consumption will give AMD an advantage in the netbook segment and boost its overall processor market share.
