Review : Samsung YEPP YP-700H FM/MP3 Digital Audio Player

Posted on Friday, September 27 2002 @ 10:25:32 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Futurelooks has taken a look on the YEPP YP-700H FM/MP3 Digital Audio Player from Samsung :
Overall, the YP-700H is everything that I could hope for in an MP3 player (at least right now). It offers rechargeable capability, Long Battery Life, infinite expandability with the use of Smartmedia cards, while still maintaining a slender profile. I appreciate the FM Tuner to ease repetitive MP3 syndrome, and I thought that the remote control was most useful. On the downside, I thought that the case was a little too big, making the unit a bit too cumbersome to carry around if you have a more active lifestyle. Here, I would have liked to have seen a belt clip, or an arm band, similar to what the other Yepp's have been incorporating in the past, or at least something slimmed down to match the unit. And on the really downside, that AudioManager software is a real dog, but it isn't Samsung's product, but it is someone at Samsung's fault for bundling it.

The YP-700H is a solid MP3 player with some great features that even I've had on my wishlist, like the memory expansion and the rechargeable battery. The AudioManager software truly could have killed this player in terms of what rating I would give it, but it has made up for it with innovation and solid performance in hardware. This is Samsung's best player yet!
