Renesas will reveal the first mobile SoC with PowerVR SGX MP multi-core graphics at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week:
Named SH-Mobile APE5R, the silicon prepped for showcase at the MWC is supposed to have over times the graphics power of today's chips, and it also packs two Cortex-A9 cores running at 1.2 GHz to ensure all-round top performance for smartphones and mobile internet devices (MIDs).

Renesas' multi-core SoC is capable of 1080p video encoding/decoding, supports 1080p stereoscopic 3D (S3D) video, and comes with a dedicated audio subsystem for 'extended music playback.' The SH-Mobile APE5R will be demoed at Imagination Technologies' (PowerVR IP creators) booth.
