    NVIDIA preparing SLI2 technology

Posted on Tuesday, May 31 2005 @ 17:38:52 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

The Inq learned NVIDIA is preparing an improved version of its SLI graphics architecture, in case ATI's new CrossFire Multi VPU technology beats its current SLI technology.

It is said SLI2 will use more PCIe lanes and might get close to two times 16 PCIe lanes. It's not sure how much this will boost the performance of SLI cards but the new SLI2 architecture will also feature other improvements over the current technology.

ATI today presented its CrossFire Multi-VPU technology to the press.
