Zalman Z5 and Z5 Plus mid-tower cases released

Posted on Monday, September 10 2012 @ 16:31:51 CEST by

Zalman shows off the Z5 and Z5 Plus, a new line of mid-tower ATX cases with an angled polygon shape. Both cases feature an all-black design, with matte finish, they're made from SECC steel and measure 205mm x 460mm x 490mm (W x H x D).

The main differences between the Z5 and Z5 Plus is that the latter model has an acrylic side window, albeit a very small one, a USB 3.0 port in the front I/O panel and a 2-channel fan controller. The Z5 series has support for three external 5.25" devices, one external 3.5" device, three 3.5" HDDs and two 2.5" SSDs. There are seven expansion slots and the case is roomy enough for graphics cards as long as 330mm.

Both cases come with a front and rear fan, and the Z5 Plus also includes a top fan. Other features include cut-outs for cable management, a cut-out for easy CPU cooler swapping, pre-cut holes for liquid cooling tubing, tool-free installation, and dust filters for front/bottom.

Zalman's Z5 has a price of $67, while the Z5 Plus costs $70. The price difference between the two cases seems pretty low considering all the extras you get with the Z5 Plus.
