Rumors floated around the web that Google and Asustek are considering to launch two new Nexus 7 tablets; an upgraded $199 model and a $99 entry-level variant, but Asustek has called the rumors unfounded.
With Nexus 7's strong sales, rumor have circulated that Google is looking to push forward and will cooperate with Asustek to release a US$99 entry-level model and a US$199 ultra-thin upgraded model to counter Amazon and Apple's new tablet devices.
ASUS estimates it will ship five to six million tablets this year. The company shipped about 1.4 million units in the first half of the year, and anticipates to ship over 2 million units in the third quarter.
