SilverStone Heligon HE02 focuses on passive CPU cooling

Posted on Wednesday, October 10 2012 @ 18:52:14 CEST by

SilverStone reveals the Heligon HE02, a new massive processor heatsink that promises to passively cool CPUs with a TDP of 95W or more.

The cooler measures 170mm x 130mm x 160mm (W x D x H) and weighs a massive 990g. It consists of a copper base, six 6mm thick powder heatpipes and a large aluminium fin array.

SilverStone explains on its website that the cooler can passively cool processors with a TDP of 95W, depending on case airflow, and up to 150W TDP if there's at least one 120mm fan in the case. On top of that, the HE02 also supports an optional 120mm fan, making it suitable for use with processors with a TDP of over 150W.

Included in the bundle are mounting brackets for Intel Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011 and AMD Socket AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2 processors. The MSRP is 65EUR.
The all new Heligon HE02 CPU cooler is designed for both performance and quietness. The wide aluminum fins spacing are specially designed to minimize noise when air travel through its heatsink. The double cross shape of the cooler maximizes cooling surface and at the same time makes installation an ease on any motherboard. The corners of the crosses enable motherboard mounting even after the cooler has been installed while inner corners between the two crosses are to facilitate installation of the cooler’s bracket onto the motherboard. The entire cooler is asymmetrically designed so it can be installed optimally in different motherboard and chassis.

The Heligon HE02 is capable of safely cooling high-end CPUs such as the Intel Core i7 3960K without cooling fan directly attached. And using fans from the chassis it can also cool CPUs with TDP rating of up to 130W. Fan clips are included for optional 120mm fan mountings to enable HE02 to obtain cooling performance that rival the best air coolers on the market. For those looking to obtain the highest cooling performance at the lowest noise possible, the SilverStone Heligon HE02 is an unbeatable solution.
