Microsoft announced pre-orders for the 32GB entry-level version of its Surface tablet sold out in under 24 hours. Shipments will start next week.
The quick sales come with projections from financial firm Morgan Stanley, which sees the new tablets price tag keeping it competitive with Apple's Ipad.
Yesterday Microsoft began taking preorders for its Surface Tablets. Now, less than a day later, the company said it has run out of its preorder stock for one of the tablets models. The low-end $499 model that doesn't include the much hyped keyboard-cover is now on backorder on Microsoft's US website.
The other two tablet models are still available, however, and will run consumers upwards of $599. Microsoft's quick sale looks to only be affecting US customers. A check of the Microsoft store's UK website shows all three models in stock at time of writing.
