Industry sources told DigiTimes that smartphones with Mozilla's new Firefox OS may not be able to compete effectively against low-end Android phones or Nokia's Asha family.
In general, Firefox OS-based handsets equipped with 1GHz single-core processors and 3.5- to 4-inch screens will sell at contract-free prices of US$80-200 while Android-based models with quad-core processors and 5-inch screens are for sale below US$200, the sources indicated.

Although the hardware specifications of Nokia's new smartphone-like feature phones, including the Asha 500, 502 and 503, are less sophisticated than Firefox models, prices, industrial designs and applications of Asha phones are more competitive, noted the sources.
