AMD Radeon R9 280 price drops to $249

Posted on Wednesday, May 14 2014 @ 12:28:52 CEST by

AMD Graphics logo
News hit the wire that AMD cut the pricing of its Radeon R9 280. The new official MSRP is $249, a price cut of $30. This puts the card in direct competition with NVIDIA's similar-priced GeForce GTX 760.
AMD has priced its slightly-faster Radeon R9 280X at $299, and the 270X at $199, so there's a $50 increase to the R9 280 from the 270X, or a $50 decrease from the 280X, depending on which GPU you were considering. AMD can now better compete with NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 760 which is also priced at $249.
