    Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" bypassed

Posted on Friday, July 29 2005 @ 01:22:14 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

It seems Microsoft's fight against piracy wasn't that good after all as some clever guys already found a crack.

It looks like the new Genuine Advantage piracy check on Microsoft's site to download updates can be bypassed quite easily:
Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:

    javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

It turns off the trigger for the key check.
