Iwill launches DK88 motherboard with 64GB memory support

Posted on Saturday, July 30 2005 @ 22:13:17 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Iwill has launched a new server motherboard for the AMD Opteron that supports up to 64GB of memory.

The DK88 motherboard supports 16 DDR memory DIMMs, eight DIMMs per CPU, with each slot supporting up to 4GB of DDR memory. The company says it supports registered memory with ECC and chip-kill functions.
Iwill chose to use digital VRM (voltage regulator module) instead of traditional aluminum electrolytic capacitors for delivering the maximal memory capacity for the motherboard. One of the key features for digital VRM is its smaller footprint, which leaves enough room to put more memory banks on board, the company stated. It also avoids the risk of leaking capacitors damaging the system, the company added.
More details about this motherboard at DigiTimes; It will be available in August.
