At the Microsoft Build Event today in Seattle, Microsoft announced that development kits for the Acer mixed reality headset are available for pre-order in the U.S. and Canada. Starting today, they will be available for pre-order at the Microsoft Store, for $299 (USD), with delivery expected this later this summer. In addition, Acer will begin selling a Windows Mixed Reality headset and motion controller bundle starting at $399 (USD) for the holiday season. The Windows Mixed Reality motion controllers don’t require markers, and offer precise and responsive tracking of movement in the field of view using the sensors in the headset; there is no need to install hardware on the walls.
