Half Life 2 Lost Coast HDR performance, ATI vs NVIDIA

Posted on Saturday, October 29 2005 @ 22:37:19 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

AMDZone has updated their HL2 Lost Coast high dynamic range lighting benchmarks with the addition of single X850XT PE and 7800GT benchmarks in addition to the Crossfire and SLI 16X tests. They were able to confirm that there is a performance issue with Crossfire as the single X850 outperformed two in all but one test.

If you have Half Life 2 then start your downloading as you will have access in Steam. Seeing screenshots does not give the experience its full justice, and it is not an overly large update. Valve has implemented commentary into the level, and goes over many features that you can trigger by hitting the action key when targeting them. They show up as the big floating cartoon-like talk bubble seen below. They are a nod to DVD commentary, and can give you an interesting glimpse behind the action at what Valve is trying to do. Now before we get to benchmarks lets begin with some example screenshots.. You can check it out over here at AMDZone.
