    AMD's Athlon 64 FX60 to be clocked at 3.0GHz

Posted on Saturday, October 29 2005 @ 22:46:10 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

The Inquirer has posted some more details about AMD's upcoming Athlon 64 X2 5000+ and Athlon 64 FX60 which will be released in Q1 2006.

One of the first details is that AMD has skipped the FX57 to 59 and has decided to go directly to 60, then to 65 and so on, to catch up with the Opteron nnumbering scheme and prepare for the M2 processors.

Another detail are the clcokspeeds. The Athlon 64 X2 5000+ will likely be clocked at 2.6GHz and the FX60 will probably be cloccked at 3GHz. The FX60 will be the last single-core FX processor.
