ATI preparing chipset with four pipelines

Posted on Friday, December 30 2005 @ 03:58:37 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

ATI is working hard on a new integrated graphics chipset, The Inq reports. This time the chipset will feature a GPU with four pixel pipelines, which is twice more than the current integrated graphics chipset generation from both ATI and NVIDIA.
C51 and Radeon Xpress 200 chipsets both have two pixel pipelines powered with Hypermemory or turbo cache architecture. They can run some games at 800x600 and they can let you see some of the games before you go out and buy a decent graphic card.

The next generation of chipsets will feature a new integrated core with four pixel pipelines and it should be relatively close to the X600 performance. It might end up a little bit slower due to slower memory performance from the integrated memory, but it should be in that range.
This new chipset will also support Windows Vista.
