Intel 975X Express vs NVIDIA nForce4 X16 SLI

Posted on Friday, December 30 2005 @ 23:32:42 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

The guys from Legion Hardware have compared Intel's new 975X Express chipset with NVIDIA's nForce 4 X16 SLI:
However, there are a lot of power-users out there that are not all that fussed about multi-GPU technologies and are just as happy to use a single GeForce 7800 GTX or Radeon X1800XT graphics card. For these gamers their choice of motherboard is quite broad as they can easily select between an nForce4 X16 SLI or a 975X Express motherboard. So which chipset would you rather run with? On paper the older of the two, being the nForce4 X16 SLI, actually looks more impressive. For example it offers almost twice as many PCI Express lanes, twice the memory capacity, more USB ports and better bandwidth for multiple graphics cards. Let’s move on to compare the performance of these two chipsets...
